No bus fare hike: BRTA

The fare of public transports will not be hiked this time despite public transports set to carry 50 percent passengers of their capacity from tomorrow.

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) chairman Nur Mohammad Majumder briefed the media persons after a meeting with concerned authorities on Wednesday.

Earlier on Monday, the cabinet division issued a notification to run public transports with half of their capacity from January 13.

The bus owners demanded to increase the bus fare soon after the directives were announced. 

The BRTA held a meeting with the concerned stakeholders to resolve the matter.

At the meeting, it was decided that the buses will operate at half capacity without a fare hike.
