418 killed, 497 injured in road accidents in December

At least 418 people were killed and 497 others were injured in different road accidents across the country in December 2021, said a Road Safety Foundation (RSF) report.

According to the report which was released on Saturday, a total of 383 road accidents took place during the period.

Among the deceased, 63 were women and 49 were children.

The number of deaths due to motorcycle crashes leads the charts as around 178 people died, which is 42.58 percent of the total number of deaths, in December last year.

The report added that 127 pedestrians were among the deceased and 22 people were killed and nine others were injured in 13 railway accidents in the month.

The report was prepared by the Road Safety Foundation (RSF) on the basis of news coverage of accidents published in seven national daily newspapers, five online news portals and television channels.
