Agitated passengers blockade Airport road

Many agitated passengers mostly office goers on Thursday have blocked Airport road in the Khilkhet area protesting the government decision of carrying 50 percent of passengers in public transports and hike of bus fare.

Many of them can’t get in the buses as public transports are not carrying more than 50 percent of passengers in Dhaka following the government instruction.

Later, policemen went to the spot and convinced the agitated passengers and make the transport movement normal.

Confirming the matter, Khilkhet Police Station duty officer sub-inspector Md Masum told Dhaka Post that many passengers could not get in the bus as buses are carrying 50% of passengers. As a result, they blocked the Khilkhet road in Nikunj area and the road was closed for a while. Later, our patrol team went to the spot and brought the situation under control. Police are now at the scene.
