3 students killed as BRTC bus hits auto-rickshaw in Chandpur

Three college students were killed and two were injured after a BRTC bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Kachua upazila in Chandpur on Thursday morning.

The deceased were identified as Urmi, Rifat and Saddam Hossain. The injured are Ibrahim and auto-rickshaw driver Monir Hossain.

According to locals and eyewitnesses, a Dhaka-bound BRTC bus hit a Haziganj-bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw this morning. Rifat and Saddam Hossain died on the spot while three injured were taken to the Kachua Health Complex.

Urmi died after being taken to the hospital and two others were referred to the Comilla Medical College hospital for advanced treatment.

Kachua Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC), Md Mohiuddin, said police went to the spot after receiving the information.

Police were able to seize the bus but the driver fled, the OC added.
