The vaccination program for the students aged between 12 and 17 years will be started after getting approval from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the National Technical Committee for COVID-19.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque came up with the development while briefing the press after the cabinet meeting at the Secretariat on Monday.

“We have submitted an application to the World Health Organization (WHO) for approval. Upon receiving the approval, the vaccination program will begin for them,” said Zahid Maleque.

Currently, Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine are being planned for the students above 12 years, he added.

The minister further said that a total of 2.5 crore doses of vaccine will arrive by the end of this month.

Meanwhile, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Sunday said that they are not planning yet to vaccinate against COVID-19 under 18 years.
