National Award-winning music director Farid Ahmed has passed away at around 9:00 am at the Square Hospital in the capital on Tuesday.

Farid Ahmed’s daughter Durdana Farid confirmed the matter to Dhaka Post.

She said, “My father’s condition was not very well since yesterday. Doctors tried their level best but failed. He breathed his last on Tuesday morning.”

He had tested positive for COVID-19 last month, along with his wife, Shiuly Akhter. He was taken to the hospital on March 25 as his condition deteriorated. He was also shifted to the Intensive Care Unit.

Farid Ahmed won the National Film Award for his work in ‘Tumi Robe Nirobe’ in 2017. 

He had made numerous songs for Bangla Natok and Telefilm. He also made the title track of extremely popular shows such as Ityadi and Hridoye Mati O Manush.
