Iconic Bengali singer Sandhya Mukherjee passes away

Legendary Bengali singer Sandhya Mukherjee has passed away after suffering a cardiac arrest on Tuesday. 

The 90-year-old breathed her last in eastern Kolkata’s Apollo Hospital.

According to hospital sources, she suffered a massive cardiac arrest earlier in the day. Extensive efforts have been made to revive her but she passed away.

She was hospitalized due to complications brought on by the COVID-19 infection in the last week of January.

The award-winning singer recently refused the Padma Shri award, the fourth highest civilian award in India.
